Kamil Idrison on China tariffs

Professor Idris is among the people who have expressed his views on increased tariffs on China. According to Professor Idris tariffs against China will have tremendous effects on the country. The tariff was imposed due to China acquiring the US technology unfairly. The Chinese stole the American IP annually. The intellectual property violation by the Chinese includes counterfeits and theft of trade secrets. The violations of intellectual property have been going on for many years. Thus, the president decided to have measures to prevent such actions from taking place. There is no doubt that the tariff will help put an end to the theft of intellectual property which has been going on.


Professor Kamil Idris is a national of Sudan, and he was born in 1954. He is a scholar Sudanese statesman and international civil servant. Professor Idris has served the director general of the world intellectual property organization (WIPO) from 1997 to 2008. Before joining the WIPO, he was the attorney at law advocate and commissioner of oaths. He was also the professor of international law and ambassador in Sudanese Foreign Service. From 1992 to 1996 Professor Idris was a member of the United Nations International Commission (ILC).


Professor Idris graduated with a master’s degree in from the University of Ohio and LLB honors from the faculty of law from the University of Khartoum in Sudan. Professor Idris graduated with a bachelor of from the University of Cairo. He got his Ph.D. in international law from the University of Geneva in Switzerland. Professor Kamil Idris also has an honorary doctorate from 19 various universities around the world. In 2005, he got an honorary doctor of letters from the Indira national Open University in India.


Professor Idris was also the member of the international law commission of the United Nations. Besides, he has published several books on international law and intellectual property.
